Canada published the final conclusion report of the steel self-defense

On April 3, 2019, the Bureau of Trade Protection received information on the Canadian International Trade Court (CITT) published its final report on the investigation of the application of the main safeguard measure formula for some steel products.

Accordingly, the CITT concluded that the products of rolled non-rolled, hot-rolled non-alloy steel (with HS codes 7208.51.00.10; 7208.51.00.93; 7208.51.00.94; 7208.51.00.95; 7208.52.00.10; 7208.52.00.93; 7208.52.00.96) and stainless steel wire products (with HS codes 7223.00.00.10; 7223.00.00.20) imported from countries (except Korea, Panama, Peru, Colombia, Honduras and countries enjoying preferential tariffs) universal treatment) will be subject to safeguard measures in the form of tariff quotas (TRQ) for a period of 3 years because these products have a significant increase in imports, causing a threat serious harm to domestic manufacturing industry. In this case, Vietnam is classified as a developing country on the list of countries with preferential tariff rates, so Vietnam is excluded.

Earlier, October 10, 2018, the Canadian Ministry of Finance - the agency responsible for preliminary investigation - announced the application of a temporary safeguard measure in the form of an additional 25% import duty on the whole. 7 groups of steel products. Vietnam is subject to safeguard measures for steel products of group (2) non-alloy steel bars and rods.
